King's Walk Construction

In mid-2019, construction will commence to transform the King Street pedestrian zone into a permanent people-friendly space known as King’s Walk.
This is the next stage of the Greville/Porter/King Public Realm Improvement project that has previously improved the streetscapes of Greville and Porter streets.
Currently set up as a temporary pedestrian zone, King’s Walk will be transformed with:
- heritage inspired cobbled pavements,
- stylised lighting incorporating public art,
- new street furniture, and
- planter boxes teeming with greenery.
Grant funding of $500,000, secured under the Federal Government’s Department of Home Affairs Safer Communities Fund – Infrastructure Grants, will contribute to the cost of these works.
The new space is designed to create a local destination, where people can come to enjoy the environment and engage with surrounding retail, food and trade businesses.
