Draft 2019-20 Budget - we welcome your feedback

Budget 2019/20

In the early stages of developing this draft budget, Council undertook an online community engagement program during October and November 2018, whereby we asked our community, ‘What would you like Council to fund in the 2019-20 budget?’.

As part of our interest to hear from the community this year we undertook a pre-budget ideas gathering process that saw nearly 400 hundred visits to our specially created platform to hear from the community, we had 17 submissions and over 100 budget ideas, many pinned to a location within the municipality.

We received many innovative ideas. The commitments outlined in the draft budget reflect the feedback gathered, and an analysis of relevant trends. It was your feedback that helped us create this draft budget that will support our community.

The City of Stonnington’s Draft 2019-20 Budget has now been developed and the community is encouraged to provide feedback.

Written submissions are invited until 5pm Wednesday 15 May 2019 and will be heard at a Committee meeting (a special Council meeting with Councillors) on Monday 27 May 2019 at 6pm at the Council Chamber, Malvern Town Hall. The purpose of this meeting is to hear submissions on the draft budget 2019-20. If you lodge a submission and state your interest to be heard, you can speak at this meeting (or have someone else speak on your behalf). You do not need to book in to be heard and each submission will receive a response detailing when and how you can attend and be heard at this meeting.

You have multiple ways to engage as part of this process, including writing to the Interim Chief Executive Officer and emailing your feedback but the best way to prepare your submission is to use the online form. There is not a specific format to submissions but you can receive guidance.

For further information regarding the proposed budget, making a written submission, or attending the meeting on 27 May 2019 please contact Council’s General Manager Corporate Services, Geoff Cockram or Manager Finance, Jon Gorst on 8290 1333.

The final Budget will be considered by Council for adoption on Monday 3 June 2019.

The document can be viewed here or in hard copy format at Council Service Centres and Libraries.
