Active Stonnington aims to increase levels of physical activity, healthy lifestyles and social connections of the Stonnington community through organised sport, active recreation and aquatics and fitness. Increasing participation in physical activity, through both sport and active recreation, has a wide range of health, social and economic benefits.

COVID-19 Impact on Exercise Feedback

Thank you to those who took the time to contribute to our recent survey, which investigated how levels of physical activity have changed as a result of COVID-19, and why.

You told us that there are two main reasons why activity has reduced: 'lack of access to facilities' and 'motivation'.

To help address these, we have developed a 5 week program of free virtual classes – now the classes come to you, in your home! There is a wide variety including yoga, pilates, high intensity and circuit training.

We are also offering weekly webinars which will allow you to hear from a personal trainer, and ask questions – to keep you motivated!

Find out more or connect with other community members and access other resources, visit the Harold Holt Facebook Page.

Next, we would love to hear from you by creating a space where you can share ideas. With this in mind we've developed the Active Stonnington Ideas Board to provide a forum to share your ideas and tips with the Stonnington community.

Ideas

The ideas board allows you to post your ideas, tips or suggestions, as well as vote or comment on someone else's post. Some examples of things to post are:

Tips and ideas about how you are staying healthy at home:

  • How to reduce the fog on your glasses when you walk outside
  • Dry swimming ideas
  • Exercises to do with your children

Suggestions for resources that Council could provide that would help you to stay healthy at home.

  • Specific exercises that you would like support with (e.g. to reduce back pain)
  • Opportunities to connect with other people
  • A webinar on a topic of interest
