Providing feedback and ideas to Council will now be easier thanks to the launch of a new, custom-built digital platform: Connect Stonnington.

Connect Stonnington has been developed to support open dialogue and community participation in decision-making in an interactive and easy-to-use way.

The new platform makes it easy for the Stonnington community to learn about, provide feedback and shape some of Council’s most important projects and is part of Stonnington’s commitment to being a more accessible, transparent and responsive organisation.

  • Stonnington Indoor Stadium

    In line with our Stonnington Recreation Strategy, Council has sought to identify a suitable site to construct a four-court indoor stadium with associated car parking, court-side seating, and change room facilities.
    Chadstone Bowls Club was chosen as the preferred location for the feasibility study following consideration of potential stadium sites.

    The purpose of the feasibility study is to provide Council with expert opinion, independent data and community feedback in order to make an informed decision. The study will include detailed traffic and parking analysis of the streets around the bowls club and Percy Treyvaud Memorial Park.

    Cato Square is the $60+ million transformation of the old Cato Street car park in Prahran into over 9,000m2 of multifunctional urban parkland with underground car parking.

    The Cato Square project is one of the largest, most ambitious and exciting construction projects ever delivered in the City of Stonnington.

    When completed in 2019, Cato Square will provide urgently needed open space for passive recreation, events, festivals and markets in Prahran and will provide 20 per cent more car spaces for shoppers and retailers in the surrounding Chapel and Greville Street precincts.

    Council has prepared a draft Activity Centres Strategy for Stonnington’s retail commercial centres.

    The draft strategy is informed by earlier community consultation and identifies the characteristics and development potential within each of Stonnington’s 17 neighbourhood activity centres. It proposes actions to improve and manage growth and development and protect the local character in our neighbourhood activity centres.

    Gardiner Park is being redeveloped as part of Council’s commitment to provide high-quality facilities and open space for the community.

    The redevelopment will include:

    • The conversion of the existing natural turf sportsground within the park to a high quality all weather synthetic turf sportsground
    • Replacement of the existing floodlights with new floodlights that meet contemporary lighting standards for football (all codes) training
    • Replacement of the existing pavilion with a new pavilion in line with the provision standards and priorities in Council’s Pavilion Redevelopment Strategy
    • Upgrades of the existing playground, barbeque and picnic areas, and

The Alexandra Avenue Boulevard Planting Project aims to create a signature and identifiable boulevard with distinctive tree species that complement the existing residential character of the area and also respond to the Yarra River Biodiversity Project.
